10 Questions to Ask Your Web Developer

10 Questions to Ask Your Web Developer

Picking the right web developers

We understand that you want developers that have the skill set and tools available to complete a project from start to finish. But you also don’t want web developers who may know their stuff but are hard to work with because their communication may be lacking or are using too much jargon.

1. What experience do you have, and can you provide case studies?

Bison Grid has been building , managing and hosting high value websites and web apps since 2003. Currently and in the past, we have worked with well-known organisations such as Destination Skin, Clarke Willmott, Boss Collectors and Yeo Valley Venues to name a few.

Our solutions are tailored to meet each client’s specific needs and our catalogue of previous projects and case studies stand as a testament to our depth of experience.

2. What applications do you normally work with?

Most of our web projects use WordPress. Our clients often request for us to work in
this application because it is the most popular CMS (Content Management System)  with over 60.1% of sites currently using a CMS, using WordPress.

With regards to Ecommerce solutions using WordPress, we often use the WooCommerce plugin.

3. How can you improve the performance of our website?

Our dedicated cloud servers and high-performance CDN (Content Delivery Network) will drastically improve the TTFB (Time to First Byte) on your site. We also work with Google PageSpeed Insights to find optimisation issues. We then target these problems on your site with our tools (such as JavaScript, CSS and image optimisation) to further improve page load speeds.

4. Why do we need dedicated cloud server hosting?

Having your own dedicated cloud server has numerous advantages with regards to both security and performance. The main advantage of dedicated cloud server hosting is that you do not need to share a server with other websites that you do not own. This means that you do not have to compete for computational resources, such as RAM and CPU usage, increasing your website’s performance.

5. Why do we need a CDN?

CDN’s (Content Delivery Networks) manage the inter-connectivity of cached (stored) web-based data via a number of servers in strategically considered locations around the world.

A CDN enables the management and redirection of content and traffic via various platforms, such as Cloud technology and mobile devices , to improve response times for information retrieval. Ultimately, improving customer experience and overall search rankings.

6. What security measures do you have?

Security is one of our top priorities. Each one of our dedicated cloud servers comes with an SSL security certificate. We also use Web Application Firewalls, DDoS Mitigation, Network Scanning and Malware Defence to make sure your site is safe and secure.

7. Can you provide load and security testing?

Yes. We can provide load testing to anticipate slow response times and crashes, detect performance issues early and provide an accurate picture of your slowest user’s experience. We can also provide security testing to scan your entire site for vulnerabilities such as SQL injection and cross-site scripting (XSS).

8. Are you GDPR compliant?

Yes, we are GDPR compliant. We will respect your personal information and undertake to comply with all applicable UK data protection legislation currently in force. You can view
our privacy policy for more information/if you have any concerns.

9. Are you Cyber Security Essentials compliant?

Yes, we are Cyber Security Essentials compliant. We have also been Cyber Security Essentials PLUS certified since 04/10/2017.
